Storyline gets lost in Jackson's focus on special effects

Based on the bestselling book by Alice Sebold, "The Lovely Bones" shows the lives affected by Susie Salmon (Saoirse Ronan) while she narrates from the afterlife. Susie was a 14-year-old girl only days away from experiencing her first kiss with her high school crush when she was brutally raped and murdered by her serial killer neighbor.
Annual event draws students from around state

Professor Janet Herrick accompanied ten choir students to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where they represented Lakeland at the All-State Collegiate Choir event from Jan. 13-15.
The students that attended the event this year were: Brittany Wierzbach, Emily Rendall-Araujo, April Wasmer, Clarissa Dimel, Holly Helmer, Miho Kaimori, Cody Linder, Aaron Kramer, Ben Endres, and Christopher Grotegut.

Four senior art students to display their work in the Bradley Building

On Friday, Jan. 29 from 4:30-5:30 p.m., the first of two Senior Art Exhibits opens in the Bradley displaying four seniors' artwork. The art students this year have a wide range of works stemming over their careers as Lakeland art students.
The four artists' work will be on display from Jan.
LC-CAB sponsors Colorado native to spice up the music series for LC students

Jessica Sonner, a singer/songwriter/guitarist, is performing in the Pub today, Thursday, Jan. 28 at 8 p.m. The event is sponsored by LC-CAB.
Director of Student Activities Kaye Martin first saw Sonner perform when she and the LC-CAB executive board went to the Northern Plain Regional Conference of the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) in April of 2009.
