Hage grew up Sheboygan, a mere 15 miles from Lakeland College. Upon graduating from the University of Wisconsin White Water, Hage spent the last two years at the University of South Carolina.
In the graduate school, he studied field education in the graduate program for higher education and student affairs, with a focus on residence halls and student activities.
Hage chose Lakeland College for two reasons. First was what the job entails. His type of job is rare because it includes both being a hall director and being in charge of student activities doesn't exist at any other college.
Second is the size. His last college had 35,000 students on campus. However, the student body at Lakeland is only 900. He feels that "the college size of Lakeland enables me to get to know students and help them, and I can give them encouragements to make life better."
Some people like big cities and colleges, but Hage likes small places because it is nice to get to know more people that's why he chose Lakeland College.
Hage's job keeps him busy, but he enjoys and loves it. He welcomes students to ask questions and talk with him. These situations make his job fun. Hage has become enamored with Lakeland.
