Full-time faculty and students are invited to nominate a recipient for the 2006 Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. The deadline for the nomination is March 3, 2006.
In order to be nominated for the award, a person must meet certain criteria.
The recipient must be a faculty member who has been employed full time by Lakeland College for at least three years and is teaching undergraduate courses.
In addition, the recipient demonstrates outstanding performance and excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The last criteria is that the recipient has not received the Underkofler award in the past five academic years.
Past recipients include Martha Schott in 2001, Lucretia Crawford in 2002, Meg Albrinck in 2003, Adina Schwartz in 2004 and Pamela Lundin in 2005.
To nominate, a detailed one-page nomination letter and the nomination form is asked for, explaining why the person feels this faculty member deserves this recognition.
Nomination letters are due to Gwen Schroeder in the academic affairs office, room 205 in WAK, by Friday, March 3, 2006.
The award is presented through the Alliant Energy Foundation and the Wisconsin Foundation for Independent Colleges, Inc (WFIC). The James Underkofler Endowment Fund was created in honor of Mr. James R. Underkofler and his 48 years of service to the utility industry as a means of honoring and recognizing the importance of excellence in undergraduate teaching.
The award, along with a cash price, will be presented at the Lakeland College honors banquet on April 12, 2006.
