Have any poems, narratives or just having a bad day and want to share or vent? Good news, there is a place to do this.

On February 24, at 9 p.m. in the pub, the Alpha Psi Alpha sorority is hosting Spoken Word. Spoken Word is an event where you can share practically anything you want. Everyone is invited to come and share their thoughts.

There will be a sign-up sheet going around all night for those who wish to recite their poems. The night is expected to have a "comfortable, creative atmosphere" said the Alpha's President Nancy Teat.

Also, the only music that will be played is going to consist of drums and other jazzy sounds. Commercial beats or any form of electric music will not be available. Those wishing to rap will need to make up their own beats or go along with what is provided.

Students are going to have total creative control, but are asked not to get overly explicit. This is not a worry though, with the atmosphere that is projected for the evening, everyone should be relaxed and feel welcomed.

Come and perform any pieces that you have or come simply to support everyone else who is going to get up and share their thoughts. Throughout the night there will be bar specials for all who are of age.

Remember, everyone is welcome to perform, and there will be a chance to sign up all night. If you are a little weary at first, come watch and you can choose to perform later on.
