In the tournament, the men's and women's teams both suffered two losses, with both teams also being shut out. Injuries proved to be an affecting factor on both teams, with key players forced to sit out. The teams then returned where the women opened their season against Ripon at home.
Against Ripon, the women's team suffered a 2-0 loss in another slow start fo them, but made progress and recovered more physically, being able to play some more of the players who were injured in previous matches.
The men's team had their home opener against Northern Baptist College, and layed a tough match. The Muskies led the majority of the game, with goals coming from Ryan Malo, striker, and Kevin Fitchett, midfielder, early in the game.
The men's team did not match the intensity in the second half though, and gave up two goals, and lost the game in overtime, with a final score of 2-3.
The women's team faired better against Northern Baptist College by winning their first game of the year. Goals poured from all positions on the field during their 5-0 win. Scores in the game included Nellie Wiess, striker, Kelly Hopfinger, midfielder, Savannah Johnson, striker, Jacqui Drexler, defender, and Allyce Maus, defender.
After their game against Northern Baptist College, the Lady Muskies met Alverno on the pitch, and the storm continued. The scoring rampage was un-yielded with the Lady Muskies netting in nine goals against an Alverno team that just came off their own huge win. Allie Weiss was also able to post her second shut-out on the season, seeing only two shots on net.
Both teams ventured to Wisconsin Lutheran College on Saturday, to face a tough conference opponent. The men's team once again was unable to find its offensive stride, and dropped their fifth game of the season, losing 0-2.
The torrential downpour of goals came to a slight break in a game that saw a 1-1 tie with no goals netted in extra time.
The Lady Muskies found their spark again Sunday, facing off against Mount Mary. The game against Wisconsin Lutheran seemed to be only a slight glimpse of sunlight for their opponents.
The women's team was able to hit the net ten times, posting another huge win against a conference opponent. The most surprising statistic of the came from Allie Wiess, traditionally goalkeeper, who found the net three times, scoring her first goals ever for the school.
Currently, the men's team is winless, and still searching for their first wins in conference play. On the other-hand, the women's team is hoping to continue their current winning streak and to keep a rainy season on their opponents.
