When it comes to the men's golf team, junior Justin Goosen seems to be the only bright spot. The Sheboygan native is the sole member of the team who has placed in the three tournaments that Lakeland has competed in.

At the Marian Invitational on Sept. 10 and 11, Goosen shot a 77 on day one and an 84 on day two. His two-day total of 121 was good enough for seventh place, only ten strokes off of the leader.

As a team the Muskies scored a 701, earning ninth place in a ten-team meet. First place went to MSOE, whose team shot a two-day score of 627.

The Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational on Oct. 1 and 2 was a great outing for Goosen as he shot a two-day score of 152, earning third-place. Goosen led the individual standings going into the last round on Sunday. However, his double-bogey on the last hole of the tournament dropped his score out of first by one stroke.

Edgewood College took first place as a team with a combined score of 337. Lakeland placed twelfth, doubling the leaders score over the two days with a score of 680.

Golf returns to action on Oct. 8 at Benedictine's course, Maple Meadows, in Wood Dale, IL.
