UW-Platteville tourney rough on Muskies

The Lakeland women's volleyball team lost three out of four matches over the weekend of September 29 and 30 at the two day tournament in UW-Platteville.
The Muskies came out fired up and steam rolled the first opponent, Clarke College, with three games that were exactly the same score 30-16, 30-16, 30-16. Lakeland hit the ball well with a .343 hitting average in the match.
Erin Helbing led the offensive charge with 11 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. She also added six digs and three blocks during the match. Jessica Sparling contributed 27 assists, nine kills, and led the team with 12 digs. Brittanie Paulus also had double digits in digs with 11.
In the next game, Lakeland fought UW-Platteville but lost in three games 30-27, 30-26, 30-24.
Paulus scored nine kills offensively and led the team defensively with 12 digs. Kimberly Linger knocked in seven kills and had four blocks. Ashley Domask also contributed 11 digs, six kills and two blocks. Kaylyn Kasper had three blocks as well.
On the second day, Lakeland's luck didn't change. The Muskies lost their first match of the day against Aurora 30-26, 30-21, 30-21. The Muskies had a pitiful -.014 hitting percentage.
The bright spot was up and comer Tonia Strebelinski, who led the team with 16 digs, backed up by Paulus with 14 and Domask with 10. Bruni played well at the net scoring seven kills and two blocks.
The final match against Cornell proved too much for the Muskies as they fell in four games 30-16, 25-30, 30-21, 30-13.
Heidi Kramer had her best match of the weekend by scoring 14 kills and 18 digs, which led the team in both categories. Bruni was a monster at the net again, recording nine kills and four blocks.
Domask contributed 11 digs and eight kills along with a pair of blocks. Strebelinski also recorded double digits in digs with 12.
Kramer was named to the All-Tournament Team for her play that weekend, compiling 30 kills and 24 digs.
