Valentine's Day can be for anyone if even if you don't have a date. Here are some fun ideas for couples and singles.

If you're dating someone, be creative

It seems like every guy gives the same gifts, such as a card, chocolates, or dinner.

That's nice and all, but come on guys. Be more romantic. Be original, and don't wait until the last minute. To you ladies, you have some Valentines Day responsibility too. I'm not saying you have the responsibility to put out, but do something special that will keep you in his memory long after the holiday has past.

Here are some ideas of what to buy or do:

Buy your honey a pet. Fish are inexpensive. Gerbils, mice, or something cute that they can name after you, are always good ideas.

Want something more permanent than a pet? Door County Glass has a booth right in the middle of the Sheboygan Memorial Mall.

You can put in a special request to have your very own custom blown glass item for your special someone. They sell ready-made crystal pendant necklaces, various scented oil lamps, all sorts of animal figurines and personalized bubble glass pictures.

The prices are reasonable. They range based on size but you can get a custom made item for ten dollars or more.

Another place to check out is the Hallmark Gold Crown store directly across from Door County Glass. They have picture frames that play songs.

You can also make your own chocolate. Gourmet chocolates are overpriced, and being in college, it is probable that you may not be able to afford them. Drug store chocolates do not taste good and are more likely to be less appreciated. There are tons of recipes on the internet. The ingredients are simple and the work you put in making them will mean extra brownie points.

An often overlooked present idea is a book or novel. Surprisingly, people still like to read. Give your honey a book sure to peak their interest. It will show them how well you know their taste, and they get to think about you every time they turn a page.
