Out of 32 competing teams, the Lakeland wrestlers ended up placing sixteenth with 35 points. It was not a good day overall for the team as only three wrestlers placed in the top eight.

Heavyweight, Mark Vanden Hoogan had the best finish for the team, placing fifth, compared to his number four seed entering the tournament. The senior captain went 3-1 in the tourney, only losing to the number one seed, University of Indianapolis's Jose Navarro, who was also ranked fourth in the nation entering the tournament. Hoogan left the tourney with an 18-4 record.

Junior 184 pounder, Paul Hartt placed seventh overall and went 3-2 in matches. The captain came into the tournament at 19-1 on the year and first seed in the tournament. Leaving at 22-3 was an obvious disappointment; however, head coach Pete Rogers waved it off as simply an "off day."

At 125 pounds, David Copp stepped up and took a surprising eighth place, despite being unseeded leaving the pool. The sophomore placed, despite only wining two of his five matches in the tourney.

The University of Wisconsin La Crosse took first as a team with 146.5 points followed by the University of Indianapolis with 134. North Central College had the most first place finishers with three.
