Hailing from the small 'U.P.' town of Skandia, Josh Shaw, a 6' 4," 350 pound offensive lineman brings a great tale with him to Lakeland College.
Growing up, many boys have fathers who are lawyers, police officers, or even doctors. Josh's father was a professional wrestler.
Known as "Norman the Lunatic" in World Championship Wrestling and 'The Bastion Booger' in the World Wrestling Federation, Mike Shaw traveled with superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Randy "The Macho Man" Savage, and others in both wrestling associations.
"He was gone a lot," said Josh, "It was hard and fun at the same time."
Although some wrestling fans would love to be babysat by WWE superstar 'The Undertaker' like Josh was growing up, the constant traveling of his father was difficult, and in 1998, "The Bastion Booger" decided to hang up the wrestling boots and retire.
These days, Mike Shaw runs his own wrestling school in Skandia, Michigan.
Josh seeks to establish a good foundation for himself here at Lakeland. His favorite musical artist is Johnny Cash. Not many people know that he is a great artist.
Look for both Josh and his father at the home football games. If you spot 'The Booger', don't be intimidated. With a soft spot in his heart, he may sign an autograph for you if you ask nicely.
