After the campus threat assessment and management team receives information they will contact the persons involved to try to help in any way that they can.

There is now an anonymous tip line on the Lakeland Web Site under Security and Safety, and concerned individuals are able to report any information they know to security without having to release their name.

"People know, but they're not sure what to do with that information," Gamache said.

Having an anonymous tip line is a way to make Lakeland security more accessible to all members of the Lakeland community.

It is also a way "to break those walls down" and allow communication to flow more freely throughout the campus when important information about the safety of student(s) or staff member(s) is involved.

Trying to prevent crime from happening at Lakeland has to be a community effort according to Gamache.

"As every year goes on we become more effective," she said. "We can only do so much with the knowledge we have. We always strive to be better."

It's really unfortunate that there have been so many shootings, but that's something that's really difficult to anticipate and prevent.
